Would you guessed at a first glance, you are looking at shipping containers? We think you wouldn’t, right? When cooperating with Kolovna, magical things come to life. This guesthouse is no exception.

What we wanted to create

The brief was to create a place you’d love to come back to. Where you can relax after a hectic week, ride your bike on the Jeseniky trails and spend quality time with friends or family.

A slight hitch, aka 1 + 1 = 3 ?

In the beginning it was just us and the client. We clarified the idea, designed a solution and started production.

But! In the course of the collaboration, the client came up with the suggestion to involve architects and showed us their idea straight away. We really liked the design, but we saw a few exclamation points due to the production already underway.

Anyways, we really liked the idea so we thought, “okay, let’s do this.”

We went straight to the premiere

Concrete trowel is applied in all bathrooms. We hadn’t come across it before this project. We have trained our staff to use it in the process and now we are able to apply it to your project as well.

Interior of the container house:

• All furniture was made to measure due to the atypical dimensions.
• We used spruce solid wood panels for a slightly more raw look

Exterior of the container house:

• We made the facade out of spruce planks with different color intensity
• We prepared 95% of the containers in our factory
• Installation on site took 5 weeks, including terraces and green roofs
• We had to keep the final seating on the concrete footings to a precision of 5 mm
• In total, the guesthouse consists of 7 containers, which were transported from us to Jeseniky by 3 trucks

Fun fact

A little surprise was waiting for us just near the installation site. There was a small bridge that the trucks could not cross.

We had to transfer all parts of the containers to smaller car, which got the containers to the final location. Not gonna lie, we worked up quite a sweat.
